Dear All,

In November 2010 our school turns 150. One hundred and fifty is a lot of years and the Alumni Association wants to do something meaningful and enduring; we want to set in place a Health and Medical Benefits Scheme for retired teachers and staff who have worked for ten years or more. This is our tribute to all those who have, over the years, given this institution its formidable reputation.

Our research tells us there is a crying need for this. We would like to ensure that every staff member feels secure, and lives and ages with dignity. Our Scheme envisages a two-pronged approach: first, a Medical Assistance Scheme with a panel of doctors which will give free or partially-free treatment. We already have 80 alumni and parent doctors who have very kindly volunteered. Second, since hospitalisation is cripplingly expensive, we are working on a group insurance policy for about 30 teachers. With rising medical and insurance costs, our target is to raise at least Rs. one crore towards this endeavour so that we are comfortable for the next few years. We look to each of you to make our dream, for this historic year, come true.

A governance plan will be set in place and the fund will be monitored and managed by the present Co-Presidents, and Pranay Shah (1970), Rama Iyer (1984, ICSE) and Bibhash Asar (1986 ICSE).

Further, to enable us to receive contributions from our alumni overseas, we have applied for our FCRA registration. In the meantime, they could help us by providing funds directly from India. 

We ask that your contribution reflect the large need and that you will be generous based on your means…whether it is Rs. 5,000, 10,000, 50,000 or one lakh, five, ten lakhs or more!
