School Tie

While the Cathedral Girls had a badge, the boys had to be content with just the School colours - purple and black, which the junior boys sported on their belts and the seniors in ties with diagonal stripes.  In 1967 the school became co-educational and it was noticed that while the girls wore green, blue, red or orange girdles to show which House they belonged to, the boys had no such identifying mark.  Shortly after the amalgamation the boys acquired ties which showed the colour of their house by means of an additional stripe.

The Prefects’ tie carries white motifs of St. Andrew’s Cross and the Bishop’s mitre on a blue background.  This tie was introduced in 1954 by the late Mr. Bernard, Gunnery.
